Paul Merson believes that Liverpool are set to do the majority of their transfer business during the summer.

The Reds brought in Steven Caulker on loan from Queens Park Rangers and also signed Marko Grujic before loaning him back to Red Star Belgrade for the rest of the season.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to make a number of changes to his squad during the summer transfer window as the German coach looks to stamp his authority at Anfield following his arrival at the club back in October.

And former Arsenal man Merson is expecting Liverpool to be one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs during the summer transfer window after a quiet January on Merseyside.

Asked to rate Liverpool’s January transfer dealings, Merson told Sky Sports: “Their business will be done in the summer.

“I think Jurgen Klopp’s come in and thought ‘let’s get this season out of the way now’ and will be thinking ‘this is a lot harder than I thought it would be’.

“I think they’ll do more business than anybody in the summer and there’ll be more ins and outs at Liverpool than at any other club.

“I think he’s just waiting for next season. You can’t really give them a mark because they haven’t done anything, so it’s just a D.”
