Paul Scholes makes frank admission about Arsenal ahead of Man United clash
Paul Scholes is concerned about the threat Arsenal will pose to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon
Paul Merson admits that he fears for Manchester United as they prepare to host Arsenal in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Red Devils have shown signs of improvement in recent games and backed up their FA Cup win over Shrewsbury Town with a thumping 5-1 victory over Midtjylland in the Europa League on Thursday night.
United now turn their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their showdown with the Gunners at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Louis van Gaal’s men are currently fifth in the table and six points adrift of the top four heading into the final 12 games of the season.
And former United midfielder Scholes admits that he is concerned about whether the Red Devils’ injury-struck squad will be able to cope with the attacking threat posed by Arsenal.
Speaking on BT Sport on Thursday evening, Scholes said: “We know it’s a massive step up against Arsenal.
“Arsenal are a very good team. They have some brilliant attacking players. I’d fear for them a little bit on Sunday with that back four to be honest with you.
“Hopefully I’m wrong, but you look at the pace, power and strength that Arsenal have and I think it’ll be difficult.”
Arsenal are currently third in the table and two points behind leaders Leicester.
