Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera sends a birthday message to Fernando Llorente
Ander Herrera may be a Manchester United player, but the Spanish midfielder hasn’t forgotten old football friendships.
The 26-year-old scored for the Red Devils in Thursday night’s emphatic 5-1 win against Danish champions FC Midtjylland in the second leg of their Europa League clash.
Herrera’s penalty was just his third goal of the season for Louis van Gaal’s side in a frustrating campaign for player and club so far.
However, the Spaniard gets full marks for remembering his old team-mate’s birthday after he posted a message for Sevilla striker Fernando Llorente.
Herrera wrote: “Congratulations friend @llorente_fer 👏🏼🎉”
The Spain Under-23 international spent three years at Basque club Athletic Bilbao after he joined from Real Zaragoza.
Llorente and Herrera were part of Bilbao’s side that lost to Atletico Madrid in the Europa League final in 2013.

Herrera has scored 11 times in 49 games in all competitions for United following his £29m move to Old Trafford from Bilbao in 2014.
