Steven Gerrard may be living on the other side of the world but the former Liverpool captain is keeping close tabs on his beloved Reds.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will face Manchester City in the League Cup final on Sunday as the Reds look to win the competition for a record ninth time.

Gerrard captained the Merseyside outfit to their last League Cup win in 2012 when Kenny Dalglish’s side beat Cardiff City on penalties.

The LA Galaxy midfielder won the cup competition three times during his Liverpool career, scoring a brilliant long-range strike against Manchester United in 2003.

And the 35-year-old posted an Instagram message for the current Liverpool players on Sunday morning ahead of the Wembley showpiece.

Gerrard wrote: “Good luck Redmen #YNWA”

The Liverpool legend called time on his Reds career last summer and completed a move to Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy.
