Manchester United should take a gamble on Ryan Giggs as their next manager, according to Ray Parlour.

Louis van Gaal is coming under increasing pressure after the Red Devils lost 2-1 to Danish champions Midtylland in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 clash on Thursday night.

“I’d get rid of Louis van Gaal and put Ryan Giggs in charge until the end of the season

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is being linked with the Old Trafford position after he was sacked by the Premier League champions in December.

However, former Arsenal midfielder Parlour believes United should consider promoting Giggs from assistant manager to manager if the 20-time English champions decide to sack Van Gaal.

“If I was Manchester United, I would take a gamble now,” Parlour told BT Sport.

“I’d get rid of Louis van Gaal and put Ryan Giggs in charge until the end of the season. Ryan Giggs could be a very good manager.

“We saw Pep Guardiola start very young. If he had it until the end of the season, they can decide whether it is going to go well or not.”

Giggs was appointed as Van Gaal’s assistant manager after David Moyes was sacked by United in 2014.

The Red Devils have lost their last two games in all competitions following defeats by Sunderland and Midtjylland.
