Thierry Henry issues blunt warning to Arsenal ahead of Leicester clash
Thierry Henry assesses Arsenal's title chances ahead of Sunday's showdown with Leicester City at The Emirates
Thierry Henry has warned Arsenal that they must “wake up” if they are to take their best opportunity to win the Premier League in many years this season.
The Gunners returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they secured a 2-0 victory at Bournemouth thanks to goals from Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The win moved Arsenal up to third place in the Premier League table heading into next Sunday’s crunch clash with Leicester City at Emirates Stadium.
The Foxes are currently flying high at the top of the table after their impressive 3-1 win at Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
Many have tipped Arsenal to have their best shot at winning the title this year – but Henry has warned that there is still plenty of room for improvement from Arsene Wenger’s side.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Sunday, Henry said: “If I had said to you that Chelsea would struggle and Man City would struggle, you would have automatically thought that it would be a season for Arsenal to walk away with it easily – and it’s not happening.
“I would question the mentality of it. In the game against Chelsea at home, the atmosphere at the stadium was for 10 years of Theo Walcott and it almost felt like a charity game. This was a game you have to win – three points.
“You’re there to win the game. It’s business. You haven’t won the league for a very long time, it’s time to win it. It’s time to wake up and do it. There is an opportunity.”
Arsenal are currently third and five points behind Leicester heading into next weekend’s game.
