Thierry Henry: Why this player can become Arsenal’s main man
Thierry Henry sings Mesut Ozil's praises ahead of Arsenal's clash with Leicester on Sunday
Thierry Henry is hoping that Mesut Ozil stays at Arsenal as he continues to develop into a key player for the north London side.
Ozil has been in scintillating form for the Gunners so far this season and has already notched up 16 assists in the Premier League to help his side up to third place in the table heading into Sunday’s clash with leaders Leicester.
The World Cup winner endured a slow start to life at Emirates Stadium following his transfer to the club from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 but has been one of the top flight’s star performers this season.
Henry has been thoroughly impressed by what he has seen from Ozil so far this season and is tipping the Germany international to continue to improve at the north London club.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning, Henry said: “What more can I say about Mesut Ozil? He scores goals but it’s the way he takes care of the ball.
“There’s always an idea behind what he’s doing before he does it. He has a football brain.
“We need to educate the kids to play like him. We had a go at him when he wasn’t performing – sometimes it takes a while – but I hope he can be the guy for Arsenal for a long time.”
Arsenal are five points behind Leicester heading into Sunday’s game.
