This Arsenal star is perfect player, claims Gunners coach
Arsenal youth coach Andries Jonker is a big fan of teenager Alex Iwobi
Alex Iwobi is the perfect player, according to Arsenal coach Andries Jonker.
The 19-year-old midfielder has broken into Arsene Wenger’s first-team in recent months after a string of eye-catching performances for Arsenal’s Youth Cup side.
Iwobi made his competitive debut in Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat by Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup in October before he featured in the Gunners’s 3-0 win against Swansea City at Liberty Stadium days later.
The Nigeria international has also started both of Arsenal’s FA Cup victories over Sunderland and Burnley in the third and fourth round.
Speaking to Arsenal’s website about the talented 19-year-old playmaker, youth team coach Jonker heaped praise on the rising Arsenal star.
“We have had players who have attracted attention but I think the one who has succeeded most is Alex Iwobi, who is with the first team now,” Jonker told Arsenal’s website.
“Alex is incredibly motivated, dedicated, willing to work and open to listening. He is always trying to improve himself.”
“That makes him a perfect player because, with the talent he has already, he can continue to develop. That’s what’s happening at the moment.”
Iwobi has made appearances against Sheffield Wednesday, Bayern Munich, Southampton, Bournemouth, Stoke City, Burnley and Sunderland in four different competitions so far this season.
Arsenal host Premier League leaders Leicester City in their next game at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
