Mark Lawrenson states prediction for Tottenham v Swansea
Mark Lawrenson is backing Tottenham Hotspur to seal a comfortable win against Swansea City
Mark Lawrenson is confident Tottenham Hotspur will shake off any tiredness and secure victory over Swansea City at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered a surprise 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup fifth round last weekend after Martin Kelly’s winner at White Hart Lane.
However, Spurs bounced back on Thursday night with a confidence-restoring 3-0 win against Serie A side Fiorentina in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie.
Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson is confident that Spurs will ease to a comfortable win against struggling Swansea in north London on Sunday afternoon.
“Tottenham played poorly against Crystal Palace and are out of the FA Cup but I am not reading too much into that performance, or the result,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“People will ask ‘are they tired?’ especially because they play in the Europa League again ahead of this weekend, but they just had one bad game.
“I don’t expect the same to happen against Swansea, who are still teetering a bit above the drop zone.”
Spurs are in second place in the Premier League table and two points behind leaders Leicester City.
Tottenham have won their last five Premier League games, including a vital 2-1 win against title rivals Manchester City thanks to Christian Eriksen’s winner.
Spurs host Arsenal in the north London derby at White Hart Lane on 5 March.
