Paul Merson is backing Tottenham to ease to a 2-0 victory over Swansea City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon to continue their title push.

The Lilywhites head into the game having booked their place in the last 16 of the Europa League thanks to victory over Fiorentina at White Hart Lane on Thursday night.

Spurs have been touted as genuine title contenders this season and are currently second in the table, and just two points behind leaders Leicester City heading into the final 12 games of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men were impressive 2-1 winners at Manchester City in their most recent Premier League outing, and former Arsenal man Merson is fully expecting to see Spurs beat the Swans on Sunday.

Merson told Sky Sports: “I worry for Swansea because I don’t think they are defensively very good. Francesco Guidolin has come in and is having to adapt to the Premier League. He started off alright but now they are on a bit of a slippery slope towards the relegation zone.

“On the other hand, Spurs are flying in the league and they can pick up another three points in front of their home fans with a 2-0 win. I’m backing Harry Kane for the opener.”
