Rio Ferdinand and Andrew Cole both tweet their thoughts after Manchester United's 2-1 loss to Sunderland on Saturday

Manchester United lost further ground in the race for a top-four finish when they were beaten 2-1 by Sunderland on Saturday.

Wahbi Khazri gave the home side the lead in the third minute at the Stadium of Light when his free-kick crept past David De Gea in the Manchester United goal.

The Red Devils drew level before the break when Anthony Martial fired into the bottom left corner from close range.

However, the Black Cats secured the three points when Lamine Kone’s header bounced in off De Gea’s back in the 82nd minute.

The result left United fifth in the Premier League table and six points behind Manchester City, but the gap to the top four could be as much as nine points after this weekend’s round of fixtures.
