Alan Shearer has explained why he is a big fan of Manchester United teenager Marcus Rashford.

The 18-year-old striker scored two first-half goals on his Premier League debut as he helped Louis van Gaal’s side seal a thrilling 3-2 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The teenage sensation also netted two second-half goals on his Red Devils debut on Thursday night as the Red Devils were 5-1 winners against Danish champions FC Midtjylland in the Europa League last 32.

Former England and Newcastle United captain Shearer discussed Rashford’s attributes before he warned the United prospect to keep working hard if the teenager wants to become a top-class striker.

“What a start for him. It is unbelievable,” Shearer told Match of the Day 3.

“He looked so enthusiastic and he was willing to run in behind. He had pace about him. He was dynamic.

Shearer added: “It is only the start for him but what a fantastic start.”

Rashford’s brace and Ander Herrera’s second-half goal secured a 3-2 win against bitter rivals Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
