Alexis Sanchez: Arsenal struggles affect my sleep

Alexis Sanchez says he finds it hard to sleep after failing to score for Arsenal...

Alexis Sanchez has revealed that he struggles to sleep after games when he fails to score for Arsenal.

The Chile international netted his first Premier League goal of 2016 when he scored the equaliser in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Sanchez has been struggling to find consistent form for the north London club in recent weeks since making his return to action from a hamstring injury.

And the 27-year-old says that he is always focused on improving his game no matter how he performs for the Gunners.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, Sanchez said: “I think that I’ve adapted really well in terms of fitting into the club and it’s been very good.

“But at the same time I’m not the kind of person to become complacent or think, ‘That’s it’.

“I always want to improve and give my absolute all to the team.

“The truth is that I do enjoy [the responsibility]. When I don’t score goals I feel like I’ve failed the team and I feel guilty.

“I go home, can’t sleep and I just think I have to play better.”

Sanchez will be hoping to feature when Arsenal take on Watford in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
