Ander Herrera makes promise to Man United fans ahead of Liverpool clash
Ander Herrera looks ahead to Manchester United's Europa League clash with Liverpool on Thursday
Ander Herrera has promised Manchester United’s fans that he and his team-mates will do all they can to try and turn around their Europa League tie with Liverpool on Thursday night.
The Red Devils head into the game trailing 2-0 from the first leg at Anfield last week, when Louis van Gaal’s men were thoroughly outplayed.
United know that they must score three goals to beat Liverpool and progress through to the quarter-finals of Europe’s second tier club competition on Thursday night.
And although Herrera is wary of the threat posed by Liverpool at Old Trafford, the Spanish midfielder is desperate to give United’s fans the bragging rights after Thursday’s game.
Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, Herrera said: “We know [what this means to the fans] because we have done it already.
“I know how the next week is going to be if we beat them, how happy our fans will be and how they show that to you. We want to make them happy and make them proud because they always support us and travel all over to do so.
“We have to give them a lot and this game is a big opportunity to give them a little bit so it is our dream, our intention – win on Thursday and give them good moments!”
