Jamie Carragher has admitted that it will be “virtually impossible” for Arsenal to be able to overturn their 2-0 first leg deficit and knock Barcelona out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Gunners head to Camp Nou as the major underdogs to reach the last eight of Europe’s elite club competition after their defeat by the Catalan side at Emirates Stadium last month.

Arsenal have been struggling to find consistent form since that defeat, with Arsene Wenger’s man having only won one of their last seven games in all competitions.

The north London side are 11 points adrift of Premier League leaders Leicester heading into the closing stages of the season.

And former Liverpool defender Carragher admits that Arsenal are going to have their work cut out against Luis Enrique’s side at Camp Nou.

Carragher is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard: “I don’t think they can turn it around.

“I think it’s virtually impossible; although that’s just my opinion, of course.

“What will be interesting is to see whether Arsene Wenger thinks likewise.

“If that’s the case, we’ll have to see what team he puts out at the Camp Nou.”

Arsenal travel to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.
