Charlie Nicholas: This Tottenham star struggling in title race
Charlie Nicholas says Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris hasn't been alert during title race
Charlie Nicholas has questioned the form of Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris in the title run-in.
The Spurs captain kept his first clean sheet in four games on Sunday afternoon as Harry Kane’s double secured a 2-0 victory over the Premier League’s basement club, Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old shot stopper has only recently returned from an injury problem after he missed Tottenham’s 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup last month.
Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas believes the France international has seen a dip in his performances at a crucial stage of the title race.
“You need your goalkeeper to be more than alert [if you’re going to win the title],” Nicholas told Sky Sports News.
Nicholas added: “He has been a sensational signing, but recently he has been at fault over two or three weeks.”
Last week, former Spurs man Garth Crooks was also critical of the goalkeeper’s performances against West Ham United and Arsenal in the Premier League after he conceded three goals in two games.

However, the BBC Sport pundit was quick to heap praise on the former Lyon goalkeeper following his clean sheet in Sunday’s game at Villa.
