Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Chelsea v West Ham
Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Chelsea's clash with West Ham on Saturday afternoon
Mark Lawrenson is backing West Ham to get a point from Saturday’s trip to Chelsea by earning a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues head into the game looking to bounce back from the disappointment of their FA Cup exit at the hands of Everton at Goodison Park last weekend.
That result followed their Champions League elimination at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain last week to leave the west London side with only Premier League positions to play for this season.
Chelsea are currently 10th in the Premier League table after a disappointing season for the west London club.
And former Liverpool man Lawrenson is expecting to see the Blues drop more points at home to the Hammers on Saturday afternoon.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “West Ham put in another good away performance in their draw with Manchester United in their FA Cup quarter-final and they will probably feel they should have won that tie.
“Chelsea’s season was effectively ended by that FA Cup defeat by Everton, and they will be without suspended striker Diego Costa at the weekend.
“I am tempted to back the Hammers to win again but Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink remains unbeaten in the Premier League since taking over before Christmas, and I think he will rack up another draw here.”
Chelsea won the Premier League and League Cup last season but their disastrous start to this campaign led to Jose Mourinho’s sacking by the club back in December.
