Mark Lawrenson states prediction for Crystal Palace v Liverpool
Mark Lawrenson believes Liverpool will drop points at Crystal Palace on Sunday
Mark Lawrenson believes Liverpool will struggle to secure back-to-back Premier League wins at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The Reds were impressive 3-0 winners against Manchester City at Anfield on Wednesday night as Jurgen Klopp’s side exacted revenge for their League Cup final defeat.
Adam Lallana broke the deadlock with a brilliant long-range strike and former City midfielder James Milner added a second before half-time.
Roberto Firmino completed the rout of Manuel Pellegrini’s side to give Liverpool’s top-four bid a boost as Klopp’s side moved to within six points of the Eastlands outfit.
However, former Liverpool defender Lawrenson reckons the Reds players will struggle to produce the same energy against Palace just four days after their 3-0 win against City.
“Liverpool got turned over by Crystal Palace at Anfield in November and the Eagles know they are stronger than them, even if they are not a better team than the Reds,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“Liverpool played extremely well in their win over Manchester City on Wednesday but it is asking a lot for them to harass and hurry Palace in the same way at Selhurst Park, so I am going for a draw.”
