Michael Owen predicts Crystal Palace v Liverpool

Michael Owen looks ahead to Liverpool's Premier League trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon

Michael Owen is tipping Crystal Palace to hold Liverpool to a 1-1 draw in Sunday’s Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.

The Reds head into the game looking to build on their impressive 3-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield on Wednesday night.

That victory lifted Jurgen Klopp’s men up to eighth place in the Premier League table heading into the final 10 games of the season.

Despite Liverpool’s impressive win over City in midweek as they gained revenge for their League Cup final defeat, former Reds striker Owen feels that Palace have enough to frustrate the visitors on Sunday afternoon.

Writing in his column for Colossus Bets, Owen said: “It’s a good job that Palace are going so well in the cup, otherwise their morale would be at an all-time low having not taken three points in the league since winning at Stoke in mid-December.

“And if they don’t start winning soon, especially at home where they have lost a Premier League-low eight times, they will be dragged into the relegation mire. And conceding an injury-time equaliser in a 2-2 draw at Sunderland on Tuesday night didn’t really help matters.

“But they did win 2-1 at Anfield earlier in the season. However, you clearly can’t be confident about Palace at the moment, for all their Cup exploits, and a frustratingly inconsistent Liverpool side showed how good they can be when beating Man City 3-0 on Wednesday night. I go for 1-1.”

Liverpool, who finished sixth under Brendan Rodgers last season, take on Manchester United in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie at Anfield on Thursday night.
