Spurs are currently flying high in second place in the Premier League table and trail leaders Leicester by just two points heading into the final 11 games of the season.
The Lilywhites underlined their Premier League title credentials when they came back from a goal down to beat Swansea City 2-1 at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday’s victory moved Spurs three points clear of their bitter local rivals Arsenal heading into next weekend’s crunch north London derby at White Hart Lane.
And Rose, who netted Spurs’ winner against the Swans, has admitted that Lamela was less than impressed by his comment when he was chatting with the playmaker while out to dinner recently.
Rose is quoted as saying by Sky Sports: “Before the Manchester City game [Spurs’ 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium on February 14], I was having dinner with Lamela and I was still asking him if he reckoned we can finish top four.
“I’ve never seen someone look at me with such disgust. He said, ‘My friend, we can win the league’.
“I realise the position we are in but I don’t want to get too carried away. Games like the one Leicester had [on Saturday, when they beat Norwich 1-0], scoring in the last minute, you never know, it could be a pivotal moment for them.
“Come the end of the season I hope me scoring against Swansea can be a pivotal moment for Tottenham.”
Tottenham take on West Ham United at Upton Park on Wednesday.
