Danny Welbeck: What I think about Man United starlet Marcus Rashford
Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck is a big fan of the Manchester United youngster
Danny Welbeck has heaped praise on Marcus Rashford and has admitted that he is thrilled to see the young striker making his breakthrough at Manchester United.
Rashford, 18, has earned plenty of new admirers in recent days following his sparkling performances and four goal haul against FC Midtjylland and Arsenal.
The young striker scored twice as Arsenal slumped to a disappointing 3-2 defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Rashford has been handed a chance in Louis van Gaal’s first-team following injuries to the likes of Wayne Rooney.
And Welbeck, who joined Arsenal from United in the summer of 2014, admits that he is big fan of the Red Devils teenager.
Welbeck is quoted as saying by Goal: “He’s done brilliantly well. Individually I was really pleased for him, obviously to make a great debut like that in the Europa League and then into the weekend he did well.
“It was disappointing [for us] on the day. I was down when we lost that match. I’m pleased for Marcus but disappointed to lose that game.
“My brother is very close with his family. He’s known his family for a very long time and Marcus was coming through the ranks at United when I was playing in the first team and I would see him all of the time.
“He’s someone that I always spoke to. He’s a great kid. He’s very level headed. He’s got great potential and I hope he does very well. I’ve spoken to him a couple of times.”
Rashford will be hoping to be involved when Manchester United travel to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Sunday.
