Michael Owen states his prediction for Dortmund v Tottenham
Michael Owen looks ahead to Tottenham's trip to Dortmund in the Europa League on Thursday night
Michael Owen is expecting to see Borussia Dortmund take a big step towards the Europa League quarter-finals by beating Tottenham in the first leg of their last-16 clash in Germany on Thursday night.
The north London side head into the game looking to return to winning ways after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Arsenal at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Although former Liverpool and Manchester United striker is expecting to see Spurs score a crucial away goal in Germany, the ex-England international is tipping the home side to claim victory.
Writing in his column for Bet Victor, Owen said: “I think Spurs might nick a goal and keep the tie in the balance but this is a fine Dortmund side and I expect to see the Bundesliga outfit take a lead to north London next week.
“Spurs must still be kicking themselves for letting their 2-1 lead slip against 10-man Arsenal on Saturday, whilst Dortmund have scored 20 times in their six previous European games this term. ”
Saturday’s draw with Arsenal left Tottenham second in the Premier League table and five points behind Leicester heading into the final nine games of the season.
