Emmanuel Petit delivers blunt verdict on Arsenal, Tottenham
Emmanuel Petit delivers a damning assessment of Arsenal's season...
Emmanuel Petit has told Arsenal that they should “change sport” if Tottenham or Leicester win the Premier League title ahead of them this season.
This season has been billed as one of Arsenal’s best chances of winning the top flight crown, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United all struggling to find consistent form.
Arsenal kept themselves in the hunt for the Premier League title by beating Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime.
That result left Arsene Wenger’s men 11 points behind leaders Leicester City, who have played one game more than the Gunners.
Arsenal will have to string together an impressive run in their final eight games if they are to catch either Leicester or Spurs, and former Gunners star Petit feels that Wenger’s men could have squandered their best chance of winning the title in years.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, Petit said: “We let down the fans, we let down the club because this year was for us. For us.
“Do you think Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United will do the same next year? Forget it. They will come back strongly.

“So if this year you cannot compete with Spurs, with all the respect I have for them, and Leicester, then change your sport. I’m sorry.”
Arsenal’s next game is a home clash with Watford after the international break.
