Michael Owen states his prediction for Everton v Chelsea
Michael Owen looks ahead to Chelsea FA Cup quarter-final trip to Everton on Saturday evening
Michael Owen is backing Everton to heap more misery on Chelsea by dumping them out of the FA Cup on Saturday evening.
The Blues head to Goodison Park for the quarter-final tie looking to bounce back from the disappointment of their Champions League exit at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Chelsea have struggled to find consistent form all season and the FA Cup represents their last remaining chance of winning a trophy this term.
However, former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen is expecting to see Everton knock the Blues out of the cup on Merseyside and book their place in a Wembley semi-final.
Writing in his column for Bet Victor, Owen said: “Chelsea haven’t ruled Diego Costa out of the Goodison tie but I would be surprised if the striker were fit having looked to aggravate a muscle injury against PSG in midweek.
“This should be an absolute cracker with Everton taken to shade it in a game where I expect to see goals.”
Chelsea, who won the league and League Cup last term, are currently languishing in 10th place in the Premier League table after a disastrous start to their title defence led to Jose Mourinho’s sacking back in December.
