Garth Crooks: Tottenham can always rely on this player

Garth Crooks heaps praise on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane after Sunday's brace at Aston Villa

Garth Crooks has heaped praise on Tottenham Hotspur’s reliable goal-scorer Harry Kane.

The England international helped Tottenham end a two-game winless run in the Premier League on Sunday as Kane scored either side of half-time to secure a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.

Kane has netted an impressive 19 goals in 30 Premier League appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side so far this season.

Only Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has scored as many Premier League goals as Kane this season.

Former Spurs man Crooks felt Kane blew Remi Garde’s struggling Villa side away on Sunday to help Tottenham recover from their 3-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in Germany last week.

“There is one player Spurs can rely on in any game and that’s Harry Kane,” Crooks told BBC Sport.

“The striker simply blew Villa away after his side suffered a heavy defeat in the Europa League in Dortmund in midweek.”

Tottenham are in second place in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders Leicester City.
