Glenn Hoddle assesses Tottenham’s title hopes after Arsenal draw

Glenn Hoddle discusses Tottenham's title chances after their 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the weekend

Glenn Hoddle has described Tottenham’s next two games as “vital” in the Premier League title race.

The Lilywhites were held to a 2-2 draw by 10-man Arsenal at White Hart Lane in Saturday’s north London derby clash as they squandered the lead and the chance to go top of the table.

Tottenham take on Aston Villa and Bournemouth in their next two games as they look to get their top-flight title bid back on track.

And Hoddle has talked up the importance of Spurs’ forthcoming games as the title race begins to hot up.

Speaking to Unibet, Hoddle said: “What a game it was. Spurs and Arsenal played exceedingly well and I think the draw was probably the fairest result.

“Spurs at 2-1 will be kicking themselves, against 10 men they really should have gone on and won the game and gone top of the league.

“But they’re still very much in the hunt. The next two games are vital. Villa away and Bournemouth at home – if they get those six points, they’re still going to be chasing Leicester down.”

Spurs, who have not won the title for 55 years, are currently third in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders Leicester heading into the final nine games of the season.

Tottenham are currently turning their attentions to European affairs and their Europa League clash with Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 on Thursday night.
