Jamie Carragher has ruled Arsenal out of the Premier League title race after Leicester’s 1-0 win over Newcastle on Monday night.

The Foxes secured a narrow victory over the Magpies at the King Power Stadium thanks to Shinji Okazaki’s spectacular overhead kick.

The result pulled Leicester five points clear or second-placed Tottenham in the table and left Claudio Ranieri’s men 11 points ahead of Arsenal, who have one game in hand on the Premier League leaders.

Leicester are also now 12 points ahead of fourth-placed Manchester City as Ranieri’s men prepare for the final eight games of the season.

And former Liverpool defender Carragher feels that Monday night’s result all but rules both Arsenal and City out of the running for the title.

Speaking on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports, Carragher said: “Arsenal and Manchester City… they don’t look like teams that are going on to win the title.

“You look at the gap and you think ‘how many games would it take Arsenal to bridge that gap?

“It may take five or six games to get level and then you think where Leicester will be by then.

“I think there’s too much for them to do and (Leicester) are in too good form.”

Arsenal’s next Premier League game is a trip to Everton on Saturday lunchtime. The Gunners have won just one of their last seven games in all competitions.
