Could it come down to the final day?

Jamie Carragher has joked that he would let Leicester win if he were a Chelsea defender and the Foxes needed a victory to clinch the Premier League title on the final day of the season.

The Blues, who are 10th with nine games left to play and unlikely to finish in the top four this season, take on Claudio Ranieri’s men at Stamford Bridge on the final day of the season on 15 May.

Leicester are currently five points clear at the top of the Premier League table as they edge closer towards winning the title.

Arsenal and Tottenham are Leicester’s two closest challengers, with Spurs currently five points behind the leaders and the Gunners a further three points behind.

Asked what he would do if he were a Chelsea defender and Leicester needed a win to clinch the title on the final day of the season, Carragher told the Daily Mail: “Very easy, you just let it happen [laughs].

“There’s no way they are going to want Arsenal or Spurs to win the league, are they? Claudio Ranieri is their former manager, he is popular.

“It’s a game of football so they will go out and try to win but I don’t think they will be playing like it’s a Champions League or FA Cup final.

“They may be in the FA Cup final the following weekend if they beat Everton this weekend, which would be a bigger problem for Arsenal or Tottenham. They will be giving 100 per cent rather than 110.”
