John Aldridge tweets verdict on Martin Skrtel’s performance as Liverpool lose 3-2

John Aldridge questions Martin Skrtel's performance in Liverpool's 3-2 defeat by Southampton

John Aldridge questioned Martin Skrtel’s role for Southampton’s three goals after Liverpool lost 3-2 at St Mary’s on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side looked to be easing towards a comfortable Premier League win after Brazil international Philippe Coutinho broke the deadlock in the first half.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge doubled the away side’s lead before Joe Allen had a goal ruled out through offside.

Sadio Mane missed a penalty early in the second half before the Senegal international halved the deficit with a good finish.

Graziano Pelle curled a finish past Simon Mignolet to level in the 83rd minute before Mane completed the comeback win with four minutes remaining.

Skrtel replaced Dejan Lovren at half-time with Liverpool 2-0 up and the Slovakia international made a forgettable return from a hamstring injury.

Former Liverpool striker Aldridge didn’t appear to impressed with the 31-year-old’s performance at St Mary’s.
