Jurgen Klopp has done more at Liverpool in six months than Louis van Gaal has done at Manchester United in two seasons, according to Johnny Giles.

The Red Devils were dumped out of the Europa League on Thursday night after a 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the second leg of their last-16 clash.

The Reds progressed to the quarter-finals after a 2-0 victory over the 20-time English champions earlier this month.

Klopp is bidding to reach his second final since the former Borussia Dortmund manager took over the reins at Liverpool from Brendan Rodgers in October.

Van Gaal has failed to win any silverware at the Red Devils since the former Bayern Munich boss was named as David Moyes’s replacement in May 2014.

Speaking to Irish radio station Newstalk, Giles backed Klopp to be a success at Anfield after a couple of transfer windows when the Liverpool manager can sign his own players.

“I don’t think he will change his style of play,” Giles said.

“When he is there for a couple of transfer windows, he;ll get his own players him. You can see a pattern of play and consistency about their play that you don’t see at Man Utd. Klopp has proven that he is way ahead at Van Gaal.”
