Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Watford FA Cup clash

Arsene Wenger delivers the latest Arsenal injury update and team news ahead of Sunday's FA Cup clash with Watford

Arsene Wenger has moved to play down fears surrounding Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker’s fitness levels ahead of Arsenal’s FA Cup quarter-final clash with Watford on Sunday afternoon.

Both central defenders were forced off injured during Arsenal’s 4-0 replay win at Hull on Tuesday night, but Wenger has confirmed that the pair should be available for selection for Sunday’s game.

The Arsenal boss also went on to reveal that the north London club are assessing Aaron Ramsey’s fitness levels after the midfielder was forced off with a suspected thigh injury against the Tigers.

Speaking to Arsenal’s website on Thursday morning, Wenger said: “We had a few injuries at Hull – Gabriel, Mertesacker and Ramsey. Mertesacker and Gabriel are very positive, there is nothing wrong there, they are both good.

“There is a small alert [about Ramsey], we don’t know how bad it is.”

Wenger also offered an injury update on Laurent Koscielny, who has been sidelined during recent games.

He continued: “He is not far, he will have tests until Sunday, but it could come too soon. He has a little chance.”

Wenger added that Petr Cech, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere would also all miss Sunday’s game against the Hornets at Emirates Stadium.
