Andy Gray believes Man City's superior talent will tell in Sunday's Manchester derby

Andy Gray says Manchester City’s superior talent should be enough to secure derby glory against Manchester United on Sunday.

Manchester United were dealt a blow in their hopes of reaching the Champions League next season after the Red Devils crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday night.

Philippe Coutinho’s brilliant goal cancelled out Anthony Martial’s opener as United drew 1-1 with Liverpool, which saw the Reds progress to the quarter-finals 3-1 on aggregate.

The Citizens, meanwhile, played out a disappointing goalless draw with Dynamo Kyiv mid-week just days after a 0-0 stalemate with Norwich City in their last Premier League outing.

City are four points ahead of sixth-placed United in the race for a top-four finish as both Manchester clubs limp towards the season’s conclusion.

Former Aston Villa and Everton forward Gray doesn’t envisage the Red Devils responding from their Europa League setback at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

“City have been disappointing at times, but they have the talent to change it around,” Gray told Paddy Power’s blog.

“United have been disappointing at times, but they don’t. If City even turn up to 70% of their level, they’ll win it comfortably. Louis Van Gaal can try and defend all he want, City will break you down at the Etihad.

Enhanced odds: Get 5/1 on Man City to beat Man Utd

“It’s been the away form that’s let Pellegrini down big time. City are right to be odds on because it reflects the gulf in quality. How many of United’s team would get into City’s starting XI? One – David De Gea.”
