Rio Ferdinand has told Arsenal to consider making a transfer bid to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer in the summer.

The Gunners are expected to be on the lookout for reinforcements in the summer transfer window as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his squad.

Arsenal have been criticised for their failure to sustain a title challenge this season, with the north London side currently third in the table and eight points behind Leicester heading into the final nine games of the season.

And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand feels that Ibrahimovic, 34, would be the perfect fit for Arsenal this summer, with the striker set to leave PSG when his contract expires.

Speaking on BT Sport after Chelsea’s Champions League loss to PSG, Ferdinand said: “What he would bring to Arsenal is a mentality that they’re lacking to win.

“To get over the line and win titles. He’s done that.”
