Jamie Redknapp states his prediction for Man United v Liverpool
Jamie Redknapp looks ahead to Manchester United's Europa League clash with Liverpool on Thursday
Jamie Redknapp believes that Manchester United proved many of their critics wrong with their fightback against West Ham in the FA Cup – and says the Red Devils could knock Liverpool out of the Europa League on Thursday.
The Red Devils came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw against the Hammers at Old Trafford on Sunday and force a quarter-final replay at Upton Park thanks to Anthony Martial’s late equaliser.
United came in for plenty of criticism from the likes of Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand after their dismal performance in the first leg of their Europa League last 16 clash at Anfield last week.
Louis van Gaal watched his side concede twice and fail to trouble the Reds on Merseyside as Liverpool took a big step towards qualification for the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
However, former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp was impressed by what he saw from United against the Hammers and is predicting a tricky game for Jurgen Klopp’s men on Thursday night.
Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Redknapp said: “Manchester United have been torn apart by fans, critics and former players this week but they showed character to come back from 1-0 down against West Ham.
“Now they have to do the same on Thursday.

“It’ll be tough against Liverpool but the players should have more than enough motivation — there are plenty of people they would love to prove wrong.”
