Robbie Savage believes Manchester City will capitalise on Manchester United’s poor form and lack of rest in Sunday’s derby at The Etihad.

United were dealt a blow in their hopes of reaching the Champions League next season after the Red Devils crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday night.

Philippe Coutinho’s brilliant goal cancelled out Anthony Martial’s opener as United drew 1-1 with Liverpool, which saw the Reds progress to the quarter-finals 3-1 on aggregate.

The Citizens, meanwhile, played out a disappointing goalless draw with Dynamo Kyiv mid-week just days after a 0-0 stalemate with Norwich City in their last Premier League outing.

Former United midfielder believes City will have too much for Louis van Gaal’s United side in the second Manchester derby of the season.

“This game could be key for City and Man Utd to finish in the top four,” Savage told William Hill.

“If Man Utd lose, I can’t see them finishing in the top four. So, what will happen? I look at City and Aguero has scored eight in 11 home games and he has seven in seven against United.

“The blow of losing to Liverpool will affect Man Utd and Man City have had two days extra rest. I’m going to go for a City win in the derby and Aguero to score.”

Enhanced odds: Get 5/1 on Man City to beat Man Utd

City are four points ahead of sixth-placed United in the race for a top-four finish as both Manchester clubs limp towards the season’s conclusion.
