Matt Holland states bold prediction for Man United v West Ham
Matt Holland believes West Ham could possibly spring a surprise on Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday
Matt Holland believes West Ham United are capable of springing a surprise against Manchester United in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils suffered a big setback in their bid to win a first Europa League title after a 2-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday night.
Daniel Sturridge broke the deadlock from the spot before Roberto Firmino doubled Liverpool’s lead in the first leg of their last-16 clash.
West Ham, on the other hand, came from 2-0 down to beat Everton 3-2 in the Premier League last weekend and hoisted themselves above United and into fifth place in the table.
Former Republic of Ireland midfielder Holland reckons the Hammers could beat the Red Devils and progress to the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday.
“At the moment the side that look more a team is West Ham,” Holland told Marathon Bet.
“They had a sticky spell but that coincided with Payet being out the team. Even when it’s a quiet day he comes up with a moment of magic: a pass that opens a team up or a goal and piece of quality.
“He’s back now and makes a massive difference to the team, plus the Hammers have other players like Winston Reed and Tomkins back to the squad. Man United just look bereft of confidence at the moment.
“I think West Ham are good enough to get a draw at the very least and if they do take the tie back to Old Trafford there’s no reason why they can’t progress.”
West Ham are in fifth place and two points above Louis van Gaal’s struggling Red Devils side ahead of Sunday’s trip to Stamford Bridge.
