Martin Keown believes Arsene Wenger has bought himself more time after Arsenal were 3-0 winners against Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal hadn’t won in the Premier League since a 2-1 victory over title rivals Leicester City at The Emirates on 14 February ahead of Saturday’s clash at Goodison Park.

However, England international Danny Welbeck made the breakthrough in the seventh minute after he completed an impressive passing move from the visitors.

Wenger’s men went 2-0 up three minutes before half-time thanks to Premier League debutant Alex Iwobi’s impressive finish as Arsenal hit Everton on the counter-attack.

Belgium international Romelu Lukaku failed to trouble David Ospina in the Arsenal goal as the Gunners held on for three vital points.

Former Arsenal defender Keown, who was a member of Arsenal’s last title-winning side, felt Wenger had earned some breathing space after a difficult couple of weeks.

“That result keeps people off Arsene Wenger’s back for a little while longer. A win at Goodison is big and it will improve confidence, but there are other big games coming,” Keown told BBC Sport.
