Martin Keown states prediction about Arsenal’s season
Martin Keown discusses Arsenal's recent slump in form
Martin Keown believes that Arsenal should forget about the title race for the time being as they look to reverse their poor form.
The Gunners were beaten 2-1 by Swansea City at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night as they missed the chance to move to within two points of Premier League leaders Leicester.
Arsenal have come in for plenty of criticism in recent days following their losses at the hands of Barcelona and Manchester United.
The north London side do not have long to dust themselves down as they bid to return to winning ways when they travel to White Hart Lane for Saturday’s crunch clash against Tottenham.
And Keown feels that Arsenal should simply be focusing on the next game as they bid to reverse their ailing fortunes.
Keown told the Daily Mail: “Arsene Wenger’s priority has always been to control games by playing attacking football and creating chances. But that brand of football seems to have deserted his team.
“To be honest I don’t think Arsenal should be talking about winning titles right now. It needs to be broken down. You can’t dream about winning the league when you’re not able to win games. It’s about focusing on your own game and dominating your area.
“You have to win your headers, win your tackles, pass the ball and score goals. You have to be brave on the ball and trust that your team-mates will win their own battles. If that wins you a game of football then that takes towards target.
“But you can’t look too far ahead. If you start to look at the bigger picture too much then it can paralyse you in the game you’re playing in. You’ve got to take small steps to get to where you want to be. You can’t look at the summit.”
