Martin Keown: This Arsenal star will be massive miss against Tottenham
Martin Keown rues Petr Cech's absence for Saturday's north London derby at White Hart Lane
Petr Cech will be a massive miss for Arsenal in Saturday’s north London derby at White Hart Lane, according to Martin Keown.
The Czech Republic international picked up a groin strain on Wednesday night during Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Swansea City at the Emirates Stadium.
Cech has been a key factor behind Arsenal’s title push this season but the 33-year-old has been powerful to prevent a three-game losing run in all competitions.
Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris was unable to prevent West Ham United securing a 1-0 win against Spurs at Upton Park in Wednesday night’s London derby.
Writing in his Daily Mail column on Thursday morning, Keown explained why Cech’s absence will be a massive blow and underlined Lloris’s importance to Tottenham.
“I felt the goalkeepers would have a big role to play on Saturday because both Cech and Hugo Lloris have been outstanding this season,” Keown said.
“Cech especially has made a big difference to Arsenal this season and will be missed.”
