Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to talk up the importance of Arsenal’s 2-0 win at Everton in the context of the Premier League title race.
Ozil featured for most of the game as goals from Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi handed Arsene Wenger’s men an impressive 2-0 win at Goodison Park on Saturday as they bounced back to winning ways in the Premier League.
The victory left Arsenal 11 points behind leader Leicester City, who beat Crystal Palace 1-0 later on Saturday.
Arsenal can close the gap to Leicester down to eight points if they win their game in hand.
And Ozil took to social media to underline the importance of Arsenal’s win on Merseyside after Saturday’s game.
Ozil posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account on Saturday evening and wrote: “Three points … We don’t need to describe how important this away win is … #EFCvAFC #COYG #BeTheDifference #ACE16 @arsenal @premierleague”
The Germany playmaker limped off in the second half at Goodison Park on Saturday, but Wenger played down fears about the World Cup winner’s fitness levels after the game.
