Michael Carrick: My thoughts on Man United starlet Marcus Rashford
Michael Carrick has been impressed by Marcus Rashford's mentality at Manchester United
Michael Carrick says Marcus Rashford is keeping his feet firmly on the ground – despite the teenager winning Manchester United’s player of the month award for February.
The 18-year-old announced himself to the Old Trafford faithful with a stunning four-goal haul against FC Midtjylland and Arsenal after being drafted into the first-team following an injury to Anthony Martial.
Rashford was named as the Red Devils’ player of the month for February, winning the prize with 56 per cent of fan votes ahead of fellow nominees Memphis Depay (31 per cent) and Jesse Lingard (13 per cent).
And Carrick admits that he has been impressed by Rashford’s mentality since his breakthrough into the Manchester United first team.
Speaking to United’s website this week, Carrick said: “He’s really down to earth.
“He’s quite quiet at the moment, but he might come out of his shell after this! I was talking to him in the changing room and he was talking about the atmosphere, what it means to him and seeing the fans respond, and all that type of thing.
“It’s a breath of fresh air, you know, and something that you take for granted in many ways, so to see what it means to the young lads and how they responded, is incredible really.”
