Michael Owen makes positive comment about Arsenal after Barcelona loss
Michael Owen has his say after Arsenal's Champions League exit at the hands of Barcelona
Michael Owen has taken to social media to admit that he was left impressed by Arsenal’s efforts after their 3-1 loss to Barcelona on Wednesday night.
Trailing 2-0 from the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie in London last month, goals from Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi wrapped up victory for the home side at Camp Nou and booked their place in the quarter-finals.
Mohamed Elneny scored his first goal for the club early in the second half but it ended up being merely a consolation for the north London side.
Arsenal had plenty of opportunities to score at Camp Nou, with Danny Welbeck looking a constant threat to the Barcelona defence.
But although Arsenal must now contend with their Champions League exit, former Liverpool striker Owen believes that there are plenty of positives for the Gunners to take out of the game.
Owen tweeted on Wednesday night:
Little consolation but Arsenal have had a right go tonight. Well impressed.
