Mohamed Elneny is pleased by his recent displays for Arsenal
Mohamed Elneny has claimed that his performance for Arsenal in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham has proved himself to be worthy of a place in Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up.
The Egypt international made his first Premier League start of the season at White Hart Lane following his January transfer to Emirates Stadium from FC Basel.
Elneny more than held his own against Spurs and again impressed in central midfield as Arsenal beat Hull 4-0 on Tuesday to book their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
And the midfielder feels that he has shown himself to be worthy of a spot in the Arsenal first-team.
Speaking to beIN Sports after Saturday’s draw with Spurs, Elneny said: “Arsene Wenger has confidence in my abilities and the abilities of all the players.
“We had a good game against a strong opponent.
“I wanted to prove that I deserved a place in the starting line-up, and I think I earned my place today.”
Elneny will be hoping to feature when Arsenal turn their attentions back to FA Cup affairs for their home clash with Watford at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
