New Man United signing like Barcelona star, says former coach
Matthew Olosunde's former coach likens the Manchester United new boy to Barcelona star Dani Alves
Matthew Olosunde’s former coach has compared Manchester United’s latest signing to Barcelona’s Dani Alves by his former coach.
United completed a deal to sign the 18-year-old from Duke University in January after cutting short a spell in MLS with New York Red Bulls.
The Red Devils finally received international clearance to sign the defender this month and Olosunde was thrown straight into action last week as he featured for United’s Under 18 side against Brighton.
Now, Olosunde former coach John Kerr has likened the teenage defender to Barcelona full-back Dani Alves.
Kerr is quoted as saying by the Daily Express: “He’s incredibly athletic, he doesn’t look like the strongest guy in the world, but he’s pretty strong.
“His recovery pace is very impressive. He’s played a number of positions. He’s played centre defensive midfield, he’s dabbled a bit at centre-back, but for the national team he mostly plays right back.
“His best position might be right full-back. He has so much pace, that he can be like that Dani Alves type that gets up and down the field.
“He loves to go forward and get to the final third.”
United are currently gearing up for their Europa League clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Thursday night as they look to overturn a 2-0 first leg deficit and book their place in the quarter-finals.
