Nigel Winterburn pinpoints the major change for Tottenham this season

Nigel Winterburn explains what has changed for Tottenham this season...

Nigel Winterburn believes that Tottenham’s new found unity is one of the key factors behind the north London side’s title challenge this season.

Spurs are among the favourites to win the top flight crown this season after their recent sparkling form in the league.

The Lilywhites have earned plenty of new admirers for their attacking style of play this season and now turn their attentions towards their crunch north London derby showdown with Arsenal at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.

And former Arsenal defender Winterburn feels that Mauricio Pochettino’s men deserve credit for their recent step up in performances.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Wednesday morning, Winterburn said: “I think what a lot of people are saying about Tottenham this season, which they haven’t said before, is that in the past they would have fabulous individual players but not a team.

“That is when people have gone to Tottenham or Tottenham have gone to them and people think we can beat them. If we cut out certain individuals, push them out of the game, we can win because they may fold as a team.

“Now you look at them and you are saying they have good individuals and they have got a good team ethic as well – that’s why I am sitting here slightly nervous.”

Spurs drew 1-1 with Arsenal when the two sides last met in the Premier League at Emirates Stadium earlier in the season.
