Olivier Giroud sends Twitter message to Arsenal starlet after 2-0 win at Everton

Olivier Giroud congratulates Arsenal's Premier League debutant Alex Iwobi on his goal

Olivier Giroud sent a message of congratulations to Alex Iwobi after the Arsenal debutant scored his first Premier League in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Everton.

The 19-year-old, who has previously made appearances in the FA Cup and the Champions League for Arsene Wenger’s side, was handed his first Premier League start at Goodison Park.

Former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck broke the deadlock in the seventh minute before Iwobi doubled Arsenal’s lead three minutes before half-time.

France international Giroud was quick to dedicate a message to the Nigerian youngster on social media following Saturday’s much-needed win.

Giroud was denied a goal in the second half after the Arsenal striker was adjudged to have been offside.

Arsenal are 11 points behind Premier League leaders Leicester City after the Foxes were 1-0 winners at Crystal Palace later on Saturday.
