Paul Ince: What Arsene Wenger should have done to improve Arsenal
Paul Ince says Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger should have followed the example of Sir Alex Ferguson
Paul Ince says Arsene Wenger is paying the price for failing to freshen up his Arsenal squad in recent seasons.
The Frenchman is coming under increasing pressure following a two-game losing run in the Premier League over the past week.
Wenger’s side suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat by Swansea City at The Emirates on Wednesday night after Joel Campbell’s opener was cancelled out by Swans duo Wayne Routledge and Ashley Williams.
Arsenal are six points behind leaders Leicester City despite the Foxes dropping points on Tuesday night following a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion.
Former Manchester United midfielder Ince criticised Wenger for allowing his Arsenal squad to stagnate in recent seasons.
Ince told BBC Sport: “I think the players might have developed a tolerance to Arsene Wenger’s methods. You have to freshen it up.
“Sir Alex Ferguson would change the number two or let a few players go like he did with me and Mark Hughes.”
Arsenal lost 3-2 to United in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
