Paul Scholes reacts to Man United’s 1-1 draw with West Ham

Paul Scholes delivers his verdict after Manchester United's 1-1 draw with West Ham United in the FA Cup quarter-finals

Paul Scholes believes that West Ham United will be the slight favourites to reach the FA Cup semi-finals after Manchester United had to come from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford to force a quarter-final replay.

After a goalless first half, United fell behind when Dimitri Payet’s stunning curled free-kick from 25 yards beat David De Gea in the 68th minute.

However, the home side drew level when Anthony Martial turned home a cross at the back post in the 83rd minute at Old Trafford.

The result means that United will take on West Ham at Upton Park for a place in a Wembley semi-final.

And Speaking on BT Sport after the final whistle, Scholes said: “I think they [United] will be [satisfied with the draw]. It’s not a bad result for them.

“I think it will be difficult game at West Ham and I’d have to make West Ham the slight favourites.

“But it stopped the rot – they got the draw and hopefully they can kick on.”
