Ashley Young is thrilled to make a return to Manchester United training ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash
Ashley Young has handed Manchester United an injury boost ahead of Thursday’s clash against Liverpool.
The Red Devils winger has been sidelined since United’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on 17 January.
Young had established himself as a regular in Louis van Gaal’s side at left-back before his injury following Luke Shaw’s leg break at the start of the season.
However, the 30-year-old could be in line to feature for the 20-time English champions against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
Young posted the above photo from United’s session and wrote a message dedicated to Red Devils supporters: “I’ve missed this ⚽, so good to be back out with the lads #mufc”
Liverpool kept a fourth successive clean sheet in the first leg – one more in the second leg and they will match Napoli’s Europa League record for successive games without conceding.
The Reds – along with AC Sparta Praha, SS Lazio and round of 32 entrants FC Shakhtar Donetsk – are the only surviving sides yet to lose in this season’s UEFA Europa League proper. The Reds have drawn five of their nine games since matchday one, more than any other side in the competition.
