Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson congratulates Jon Flanagan on his new long-term Reds contract

Jordan Henderson has congratulated Jon Flanagan on his thoroughly deserved new Liverpool contract.

The England international put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the Merseyside outfit on Friday evening after months of speculation surrounding his long-term future.

Flanagan made his return from a long-term injury lay-off earlier this year and the Liverpool youth product received praise for his performance in the Reds’s 3-0 victory over Manchester City.

Liverpool captain Henderson was under no illusion that Flanagan thoroughly merited a new Reds contract as he dedicated an Instagram post to the 23-year-old defender.

Henderson wrote on his Instagram page: “Well done mate! Thoroughly deserved! 👏🏻 @jonflan38”

Flanagan will be hoping to push Liverpool full-back Nathaniel Clyne and Alberto Moreno for a first-team place when the Reds make the trip to Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
